Pump House

Pump house Strainer ball.

Lodge farm reservoir was constructed between 1836 and 1838 as a storage reservoir for the canal. The 'pump house' is a small brick building from where the water was drawn to top up the canal. Although it is known as the pump house, in fact the pump engine was originally in a building on the land now occupied by the clubhouse and car park. The original strainer can still be seen which resembles an overgrown football with lots of holes. This is the deepest part in the reservoir at around 15m.
