The following are BSAC certificated snorkel courses
Basic Snorkel Diver Course
Age approx. 8 years (may be younger depending upon suitable
equipment availability) Able to swim 50m freestyle. Parental consent if a minor. Satisfactory medical declaration. (Duration of training: Theory 0, Practical 2 hours, Total 2 hours
Snorkel Diver Course
Basic Snorkel Diver qualification.
Satisfactory medical declaration. Parental consent if a minor. (Duration of training: Theory 1 hour, Practical 2 hours (min), Total 3 hours)
Ocean Snorkel Diver Course
Hold Snorkel Diver qualification. Satisfactory medical declaration.
Parental consent if a minor. Member of BSAC *. (Duration of training: Theory 3 hours, Practical 6 hours, Total 9 hours)
* The minimum age for BSAC membership is 8 years. However, training for BSD and SD may be undertaken with younger students.

Please note
Non-members may only visit a BSAC branch for training on a maximum of 7 visits. These visits are as a guest in order to determine whether they wish to join your branch and the BSAC.
The non-members may receive some snorkel training up to Basic Snorkel Diver only within this set period. Any person
wishing to continue their training and association with the branch must be a registered member of the organisation.
Instructors' liability
Any instructor training non-members beyond this 7-visit agreement are considered to be working commercially and outside current
BSAC insurance cover. In order to protect our volunteer instructors and the integrity of the BSAC, it has been agreed that any visitor wishing to receive training beyond this 7-visit period must become a member of the BSAC.
