The following are comments made by some of our snorkelling members:
Anglesey Weekend – Louise Stevens The first joint snorkelling and scuba trip was on 24th – 25th June in
Trearddur Bay, Anglesey and was enjoyed by all! The diving was very scenic, including the biggest and most spider crabs I’ve ever seen! The snorkelers that went were very excited about getting a chance to see the flora
and fauna in the sea. Holyhead is a small place and very quiet, I don’t think the locals were ready for 20 Dudley Dolphins! The only major upset was the heavy rain on Saturday, only followed by Mandy not getting to watch
the England game on Sunday!
My name is Laura Trevis aged 13 years: We went to Brixham at the end of our six weeks school holidays Friday 1st September to Sunday 3rd September 2006. Our accommodation was our caravan; my mom
found us a nice campsite, which Darryl, Sue and Louise, also stopped at. When we arrived on Friday it was lovely and sunny. We drove down to the Marina after tea with Darryl to sort out where we were going to be
snorkelling from. While we were there, we saw John and his family, and we all arranged where to meet on Saturday morning. Saturday morning came and it was very wet and windy, we finally got down to the beach at around
10.30, all our other members were already there kitted up to go, myself and sister Kirsty did not fancy it as it was rather cold, but our dad went in with Darryl, Dan & John Lee. (Some of the other member’s family
went in Scuba diving) and John Boggild went in for a swim with just his trunks on (no wet suit). They all seem to be having a great time, (beside the weather). On Sunday we had arranged to meet again at 9.00 at the same place,
much to our delight it was a beautiful day and the sun shone all day. Myself and sister decided we were going in and I’m glad we did it was really nice and quite clear and we saw a few shoals of fish. At the marina
there is a car park (but you have to get there early as it fills up rather quick, it is a pay & display, but not badly priced.) If you are not there early enough there is a multi storey car park, (but that means
carrying all your equipment down the stairs to the marina). There is also a nice little coffee shop that serves hot & Cold food etc. (can be a bit pricey) you are also only a five minute walk away from the town which has
plenty of shops to browse in. Hope I haven’t bored you whilst reading this but it was a good weekend and can’t wait to go again next year.
